RIX INDUSTRIES

Client: Bert Otterson

Writer: Peter Engler

Art Director/photographer: Tom Joyce

In 1878, Edward Austin Rix and Joseph Firth founded a company in San Francisco to build reliable air compressor equipment needed for railroads and gold mining. In 1966, Betty Rix renamed the company RIX Industries and began to specialize in custom-designed compressor equipment for US military and industrial uses. Today, under the ownership of Bert Otterson in Benicia, California, RIX has cemented its reputation for innovative and reliable product design. When it came time to celebrate this history, Peter Engler, a Navy pilot and writer, called on Creativewerks to design, photograph and produce a hard-bound coffee table tribute to RIX Industries for company employees and prestigeous clients. The final, limited edition was packaged in a metallic protective sleeve.
